About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. My Journey From Sourdough Starter to Sourdough Bread
For those that have been on this page before I have re-done this page to try and make it more simple. Paying attention to what we eat is becoming so important now for so many reasons. I have less trust in the food we buy now and feel that the more food we make from scratch the safer the food. Many years ago my Mother gave me a sourdough starter. I did not bake as much then as I do now and somewhere along the years I tossed out the starter. I did not realize that starting a new starter would be a challenge but once I figured it out I had a nice bubbly starter that I named Pascal. So to make what I call old fashioned True Sourdough bread ......
Easy Dried Black Beans and Rice
Black Beans and Rice is very affordable to cook and good for you. 2 cups dried black beans Enough water to cover the beans 1/2 medium size onion (optional) 2 cloves garlic (optional) 2 strips bacon salt is optional Place the black beans in a flat pan and look through them to see if there is any trash or stones. Wash the beans in a strainer. Beans contain complex sugars that do not digest well, thus cause gas issues. It has been told for many years that soaking the beans before cooking and pouring off the water after soaking helps to avoid these digestion issues. First look through the beans for any trash. Then put the beans in a pan and cove ......
Cooking up some good dried Beans
Dried Beans Dried beans are so easy to cook just think ahead so you can soak the beans before cooking to make them easier to digest. Bring to a boil for about two minutes and strain off the water. Put them back in the pot or a container and cover with water plus about two inches more. Put them in the refrigerator for a soaking overnight or for 24 hours. This should he ......

Eat good meals during hard times
First off here, let me be clear. You are in control of what your child eats. These little people have no money and no ability to go out and buy their food. What goes in their tummy is dependant on you. Parents should be feeding their family nourishing food, the same food an adult eats. There is no excuse for junk food. If you can afford the price of junk you can afford the price of nourshing food. If you have limited funds for food then every bit should be spent on real food cooked in your home. Not fast or processed food with empty calories and you can stretch the food dollar easier by cooking at home. I am a Grandmother and one of the most ......
