My postings are a bit off this month and could be possibly off the first part of October. I have been trying to get caught up on cleaning and organizing, Charles had a little set back with an infection from his total hip replacement but that is improving now. I am trying to get the garden going better for our fall and winter garden which is taking a lot of extra work.
I decided to take a look back on some of my older posts and a blog post 9 years ago I thought about what all had changed since them. I thought you might be interested.
I am linking the post at the bottom of this page that was from September 16, 2017 and called Needing Routine, this post was before the Covid pandemic hit, before many serious hurricanes, floods, fire, earthquakes, and so much more constant disruptions. It makes me realize just to live a prepared life and just go on with it.
When I see how many disasters have happened since 2017, the past 9 years, it makes me see how worrying does no good at all. In 2020 I was so glad that Charles and I live a prepared life and had an old fashioned larder/pantry that kept us from panicked buying and seeing the empty shelves. We never needed toilet paper when there was an outage, not that we had hoards of toilet paper because we did not but because we relied on our homemade toilet cloths and still do today.
My grandfather died in 1918 during the flu pandemic and from studying that history, and learning what they went through, I made homemade medical masks, I stored medical items in case we could not get supplies some day and that time in history did repeat itself, we already had what we needed.
Last year I started knitting hot water bottle covers and now look at what our heating prices are going to be this winter. We need to pay attention the right way, understand what is going on and then do something about it. Then go on with our life as usual.
It is interesting now to me that due to the world war 2 study how we learned how to knit our own bandages as they did. During Charles recent hip replacement we have realized the extreme cost of bandages today. I did not have bandages for his total hip replacement, they did not do total hip replacements during the 1940s. However, it has made me pick up my knitting needles to get back to knitting those ww2 rolled gauze and pads and build up my homemade bandages because I don't see the cost of bandages going back down anytime soon if ever.
Now we feel the need to come up with more ideas how to store more water, just taking note from things we hear.

I will be back sometime in October with a new post. Until then there are many many years of old post to look at. I enjoy reading 2017 and 2018 the most, seems I had more energy then. Look for the numbers 22 through 27 and there as some quite interesting posts there.
