About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. With a grieving heart I must say that our little Bootsy (lovebird) has passed away.

She brought us much joy and much chatter.  The house is more quiet.

Bootsy was severely handicapped.  She had two clubbed feet, twisted and only could walk on her heels.  We went through many cages in our 8 years to find her the best living area.

We had our good morning routines and our special night night sounds.  Bootsy would say night night in her squeeky little voice and her name Bootsy.  She loved to talk to her toys especially her hanging shells.  She had her woobys she would snuggle in and she was a very happy little bird considering she could not perch.

This past week we took her to the Veterinarian to have her bottom beak sanded due to some overgrowth.  Bootsy did fine while the doctor filed but after he put her back in her travel cage Bootsy fell over and had a heart attack.  He tried to revive her and gave her oxygen but she was gone.  We are still in shock and yes you can grieve for a little bird.

When we brought Bootsy home eight years ago with her came Bell.  They were both babies which happened to be handicapped.  Bootsy a lovebird and Bell a Cockatiel.  They were bonded because they grew up together.  However in separate cages because Bootsy being a lovebird would bite Bell if they were together when she got older.  They would play together when they were babies.

After Bootsy died Bell called for Bootsy for two days, throwing her head forward trying to get a sound back from Bootsy.  I have been moving her around the house and giving her a lot of attention.  She has been more calm this week and I have changed a few things in her cage and starting a new night night routine just Bell and I and she likes it so we are moving forward.

To read more about their story there are several posts under the pet section on my blog.

Here is the first posting of when we got them to see the other postings click on pets and scroll down to the bottom and work up.
