Scrubbed up the kitchen floor with the mop and cleaned the rugs and washed the red piazza chair ready to paint Did the usual brushing up and beds. Went down to the Public Market for the first time. It is under new management got steak & Oranges etc. Must rest awhile then do a little ironing.

Went down to the Public Market got oranges and liver small piece S. pork after dinner went over st. Paid tele. did personal shopping got Richard stocking 4 pair . 76 cents got some groceries at A & P. Didn't build a fire till almost 6 O clock which took the chill off the front room but we used the oil heater.
Wednesday, Oct 20, 1943. Finished the ironing this forenoon and ordered. Had spinach and bacon mashed potatoes & Johnny cake and made "rennet" Custard. Mrs. Dennison came before I had my dishes washed was quite surprised and glad to see her and we had a very nice visit. Didn't go out. I had some Kentucky wonder beans baking and she helped me eat them they were very good.
Thursday, October 21. Mrs. Denison called a taxi and went up to visit her brother on the hill. They are both quite lame but plan to go south the 30th if they are able. Mrs. Denison is blind in one eye and the other is not very good she is having glasses made in Lebanon.
