Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone. Kieva I'm sorry to hear of your families struggles. Our son was also a baby with 2 surgeries. It wasn't anything as extensive as yours, but it's so scary. I hope and pray he gets better and that you have a local group of moms or family that can support you at this time. My husband and I had practically no one. We learned to make do, but have now told ourselves after those experiences we will help other families in need. Our own family never came to our aid and for us that hurt the worst and they thought we were doing something to make his issues worse for some reason. I have a friend with a down syndrome kindergarten aged boy. They struggle daily with him. Everyone loves him and he's the youngest of 13 children. They take one day at a time and do things as they see fit for the day. Hopefully things will start getting much better.
