Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Since retiring and living the good countryside life I find it is the norm to bake our own bread and i do everything your doing ie the wrapping of the bread "But i also use a thin meat spike to make small holes in the sides/ends /and the base of the loaf, about 5 holes in each section, i find this lets out a lot of the heat and when the loaf is ready to be wrapped (just as you have done) the loaf is put into a large cake tin and used the following day, I have had no trouble doing the hole bit, and the texture of the bread is just great, Oh i should have said i also brush warm water over all the loaf pre doing the hole bit,
