About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Amen to this post!!! Boy has our society gotten off track! Homeschooling my daughter, I encountered many moms that had themselves and their children coming and going at all hours. One young girl at 9 complained that they were out till 11pm (often). But it was normal to have loads of laundry in piles and home a place to eat (sometimes) and sleep and go again. The homeschool moms were a cut-throat group of competition. Secretly I believe they yearned for a career and made busy and living through their children their career. I am happy to say that homeschooling my dd we fought to not do this with the "you shoulds" and "you need to be doing..." so-called "Christian" moms. I am happy to say that bringing up our daughter didn't go by in a flash as so many of these moms mentioned at their graduation. I remember it fondly, because I was home and not wearing that "busy and competitive " so-called badge of honor that it is not!
