About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Cleaning like the past part three

April 10, 2013
We like to open our windows and let fresh air into the house.  However, with that fresh air comes pollen and pollution.  The window ledges collect a good bit of pollen so I try and keep this washed off the best I can.

With only a little water

and some diluted pepperment soap

an old cloth to scrub

rinse with clear water

with a dry cloth, pat dry and pop the screen back in place.  Looks like my screen could use a good scrubbing too.......

Winter is over so I am cleaning the area rugs

With my husbands help, we clamp the rug to a rafter under the carport.  This is not the traditional way to clean a rug but once a year I like to deep clean our rugs.  I use the pressure washer on a more gentle pressure.  I am not saying this is how to clean a rug, this is how I clean our rugs. You need very strong clamps and a very sturdy structure to hang the rug because with water it will get very heavy.

Where we live, it takes two dry warm days for the rugs to dry.

As most have already figured out, I do not do things the way most normal people would do in this day and time.  In other posts I have shown how I ripped out our carpeting and painted the floors.  Painted floors will scrape up a bit and we had an area that was scuffed quite badly by a piece of furniture.  I could not match the floor paint so I decided to paint a corner rug in this area to cover the damaged floor. I did this in another room to solve a similar problem.  I put a couple of layers of a non toxic indoor outdoor polyurathane over the painted rug.  Spook will now guard this area to prevent more scruffing.

Several times a year I take apart our fans and give them a good cleaning (always unplug first).

However, I do not normally remove the part that covers the motor.  This is what I found after removing the large cap after this fan quit working.  I was shocked at what I found.  Now I remove this motor cover even thought it is a bit complicated and vaccume.
