We have tilled up most of our tiny Victory garden. We have one lone squash plant in the upper corner of the left row still hanging on. There is a large pepper plant still producing bell peppers in the lower left row and two smaller peppers that were planted late. There are some herbs, cilantro, chives, onions and parsley in the lower corner.
A lone bell pepper....
According to our gardening book for our area the end of July and beginning of August is the time to plant some of the Fall vegetables so I have seeded the two rows with carrots, turnips, spinach, Swiss chard, broccoli and just because I planted some old beans just to see what they would do.
These tomatoes are called Matts Wild Cherry.
They have a rambling vine and they self seed and come back up each year. I let weeds grow among the tomatoes because that helps the vines stay off the ground so the tomatoes will not rot. I ordered the seeds about five years ago online but I cannot remember where I go them from. The tomatoes show up just about anywhere in the yard from the birds I am guessing.
Back in the house....
Yesterday we had pancakes for Sunday Breakfast and the leftover pancakes I warmed for breakfast this morning.
Since television is not part of our 1943 life we find that we are in our pajamas much earlier and settle down with our books in the evening. We like the quiet and we are adjusting well to early 1940s life. We have hooks on both sides of this cabinet above and each morning we hang our pajamas if we are going to wear them again.
Since I have scanned family photos for my website I decided to replace many of the pictures we have on our walls with the old photos I used for scanning. It has a very comfortable feel to the house with the old black and whites.
More of the black and white photos.
Recently I pulled one of our old Chenille bedspreads out of an old trunk that sits at the foot of our bed. The spread does not fit a queen bed but I still use it for a topper. Another step back in time.......
I will be back soon with another post.....
