Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Oh much to say on this, but I'll keep it short. ;) I miss shades, although I don't know what they were made of. I have cellular shades, but good grief if I can't find any that don't go crooked within a few months time!! I'm loosing patience and thinking of just curtains, but it gets so hot here in Tucson, that the cellular shades leave it bright without the sun and heat! All the cords that come with the aluminum blinds drive me crazy and the upkeep of the slats are too much for me with the horrible dust here in AZ. As I said, I miss shades, but they are poorly made now if you can find any and they cost a bunch if you have them made. Our windows need replacing and if I ever get 3e types to keep out the heat, anything "blind" is going in the trash.

Ann E. That post was quite awhile back and I still have not resolved our window issues, I am slowly making curtains and still have blinds but I still want to get rid of the plastic blinds. I may make a cloth shade behind the curtains. :)
