About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Grandma Donnas Food Allergy Recipes and More

Our little Kitchen
Help for those with food allergies

We are a family that has food allergies, some are food intolerances and some anaphylaxis.  So we "Get It”.  That "It” covers many issues from what can I feed my child? To how can I modify this recipe?

I do NOT give medical advice at any time.  All medical questions should go to your Doctor.

My goal here is to help simplify an overwhelming job of feeding a child or cooking for yourself or someone with food allergies. Maybe something here can help get you passed through the mental block a bit easier because it is not easy.

Between my husband and myself being able to modify recipes to my Daughters 24/7 diligent label reader/epi pen hugger/daily meal maker Mom expertise we should be able to help.

We also deal with issues such as my husbands Phoriasis
We also eliminated many skin and hair products and started using more natural products with ingredients that we could not pronounce, what goes on the skin goes into the body.  Now my husbands hands are no longer red and tender as pictured above.

Then there is the insect allergy (and lactose intolerant) adult son of mine that needs an occasional friendly reminder to keep a current epi pen on hand.

My adult daughter has many airborne allergies, insect allergies as well as food intolerance's and allergies.

So we are well aware of how serious allergies, intolerance's and inflammatory issues are and how we must be diligent to stay on top of emergency medications, read food labels constantly and eat basic healthy foods.

Starting to react......
OK, Back to Food Allergies
This little guy (my Grandson) ended up in intensive care after a bite of a cookie with peanuts).  He very easily could have died had they not been across the street from the hospital when he started reacting. He is allergic to Peanuts, Cashew,Tree nuts, Lima Beans, Peas, tomatoes, Avocados, Rice, Sesame at this time.
So how do we manage all of this?

If we are feeling overwhelmed, we cook chicken or turkey.

My basic meal is Chicken, Potatoes and carrots.  My daughters basic meal is Chicken, broccoli Alfredo Pasta and we both make our own bread. It helps to have that meal that you don't have to think about.

When we find something new we normally contact the company that makes these foods to make sure their ingredients are safe. Every trip to the store means reading labels and that is every time with every product because sometimes they change the product.

Even our pet food is a concern because if the pets eat food that contains one of the serious allergy foods then licks our grandson (especially in the mouth) it could cause a reaction.  So we must read labels and choose safe pet food or cook their food ourselves.

An extended member of the family has a child with peanut, egg and dairy allergy.  My cousin asked me if I could help her through a difficult time because she simply could not think of any safe foods to prepare for her child. She has had several serious reactions and that can be so traumatic that you cannot think. I do have some foods posted for those allergies and I will be adding more in the near future.

Then there is the Gluten issue for some.
These are (were) Gluten Free scones and the recipe is listed under cooking from scratch.

Here on my website I have many recipes and  I am in the process of re-organizing how I list the recipes so it will be easier to find what you are looking for. But for now go to the top bar and look for "Cooking From Scratch" section and browse around and hopefully you will find some recipes that suit your needs.

There is a page under Cooking From Scratch that has just pictures of Meal Ideas and it is called Meal Ideas with no recipe and just a place to stop and get an idea. These are simply meals we have eaten and we took pictures to remind us of things we ate that we would like to make again.  These meals are all peanut free meals but some of the meals have foods that my Grandson is allergic to such as tomatoes, beans and avocados. He was able to eat tomatoes then developed an allergy to tomatoes as he has other things. I have left the meal photos up for now because everyone has different allergies.

This is homemade butter and I know what is in it because I made this butter and the one ingredient was fresh cream straight from the dairy.  Sometimes we have to drive a bit to get that food item to make sure it is pure.

Since my recipes are not in order at this time and you need some assistance you can email me under my contact page and I can try and help you figure out some basic recipes for your type of allergies.

Look in my cooking from scratch section and hopefully you will find recipes you can use or modify for your special allergy issues.

I hope something here has helped you today , Grandma Donna
