About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Grandma Donna around the world

August 23, 2015

My website has been around for many years and to my surprise this little blog reaches around the world.

Visitors send me the most lovely emails from all over the world and I feel as if I have extended family many miles away but also like they are just next door.

I want to do something different and not sure how it will work  but I need your help for this one.

Many people that visit my website find a common place but we live in different countries, states, provinces, villages etc. and do things very different. Here in the USA we do things different in each state.

Recently I have learned that many people in Australia collect rainwater and use it for most every need and some drink it unfiltered. I truly was shocked but now know because a visitor to my website took the time to send me an email (thank you Fran) and now I know that the materials of our roofs are very different as well as the setting of our houses and landscape, trees etc.

I love learning new things and I often wonder how different things are in other places.

We cannot drink our rainwater at our home because it is unsafe due to many factors, trees, debris, animals, and roofing material.

And then there is laundry, something that all of us have to deal with every day.

People around the world have different ways of doing laundry.

I would like to do a household and way of life study of sorts where you send me photos of your clothes washing area, your washing machine, bucket, whatever you use to wash clothes. Pictures of most anything, do you use a automatic dryer or clothes line? Rack? How do YOU dry your clothes?

You might think what you have or what you do is boring but probably not to someone else in another country.

Anything that you think would be interesting, do you collect rainwater? Send photos of your rain water collection system.

Do you feel others live different than you? If you would like to take part of this around the world study, please send an email and describe how you do things around your home. Send description and or photos to my email, top right hand section of my website has contact and that will send to my email and I will be posting on this website. In subject line on email say, around the world.

Please don't stop normal emails, I love to hear from all of you.

For the USA visitors send your descriptions and or photos too, this is for all of us to learn how we as a world are different and similar.

If you do not have a way to send a photo, snapshot, just describe what you use and where you live. Make sure to say where you live, your name if you don't mind me posting just your first name or say do not post my name if you do not wish for me to post it.

Other things of interest would be dish washing, how do YOU wash your dishes? Dishwasher, hand wash? Do you have a rack, towel, drain rack? Do you use liquid soap? Bar soap? Baking soda? How do you do dishes?

What does your kitchen sink look like? It does not matter if it is old, new or just a pan. It is all very interesting how people do things differently.

Do you have a garden? Grow herbs a kitchen window? Container Garden?

A sink full of dirty dishes, your pots and pans may be different, we will not know until we see them.

I would love for all of you to do this then I will start a page for all of us to see how others live in today's world, all over the world. Use your imagination. Don't worry about a cover photo for front page, I will be using scenic photos from a trip I took to upstate new york. Your photos will show in article.

Do you all in Japan still hang clothes to dry mostly or are you using automatic dryers more?

Wherever you live I would LOVE to hear from you and let us see our similarities or differences. Do you do something different to save money?

With all the bad things that are happening in the world I would like to do something to show we are just people and families living, taking care of our families and doing the same things just in different ways.

I hope this works, there will be no time limit or stop date, just send them my way. Just make sure to send me your country or any information you wish for me to include.
