Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. UMMMMMM Pizza Pizza Dough made in Bread machine Double Crust: (This is the one I use because after it's made I seperate the dough in half and freeze half for next time) Water, (80 Degrees) -- 10 1/2 ounces (1 1/4 cups + 1 Tbsp.) Vegetable Oil -- 4 Tbsp. All Purpose Flour -- 4 Cups Sugar -- 1 Tsp. Salt -- 1 Tsp. Bread Machine/Fast Rise Yeast -- 2 Tsp. Single Crust: Water, (80 Degrees) -- 7 1/2 Ounces (3/4 cup + 3 Tbsp.) Vegetable Oil -- 2 Tbsp. All Purpose Flour -- 2 1/2 Cups Sugar -- 1/2 Tsp. Salt -- 1/2 Tsp. Bread Machine/Fast Rise Yeast -- 1 1/2 Tsp. (I usually add Basil and Oregano into the crust mixture too before starting. Adds a little flavor) I top my pizza ......
4 TBSP. BUTTER
3 TBSP. ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1 CAN CHICKEN BROTH (14OZ OR 1 3/4 CUP)
3/4 CUP HALF AND HALF
1/4 TSP. SALT
 
MELT BUTTER
STIR FLOUR AND SALT
POUR IN CHICKEN BROTH AND WHISK OVER HEAT UNTIL BUBBLY AND AS IT THICKENS ADD HALF AND HALF. CONTINUE TO WHISK.
 
 
 
**I MAKE A MUSHROOM SOUP WITH THIS SAME RECIPE, BUT I ADD SLICED MUSHROOMS AND I SUBSTITUTE THE CHICKEN BROTH FOR BEEF BROTH.**
MOIST BUTTER CAKE: 2 STICKS BUTTER (1CUP) (REAL BUTTER NOT MARGARINE) SOFTENED 2 CUPS WHITE SUGAR 4 EGGS 2 1/2 CUPS SELF-RISING FLOUR (SIFTED) 1 CUP WHOLE MILK 1 TBSP PURE VANILLA EXTRACT PRE-HEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES. GREASE AND FLOUR THREE 8 INCH PANS IN A MIXER BOWL, CREAM TOGETHER THE BUTTER AND SUGAR WITH YOUR MIXER UNTIL SOFT AND CREAMED. CRACK THE EGGS INTO A BOWL BEFORE PUTTING IN CAKE. NOW ADD EGGS ONE AT A TIME AND MIX UNTIL YOLK IS MIXED INTO THE BATTER BEFORE ADDING THE NEXT EGG. COMBINE THE MILK AND VANILLA, ADD ALTERNATELY TO THE CREAMED MIXTURE WITH THE FLOUR (END WITH FLOUR). MIX UNTIL BATTER IS SMOOTH. POUR INTO PREPARED PANS. BAKE FOR 15-20 M ......
FRENCH ONION DIP:
1-16 OZ SOUR CREAM
3 TBSP. MINCED ONION
2 TSP. BEEF BROTH GRANULES
1/2 TSP. ONION SALT
 
SMASH 1 TBSP. MINCED ONION AND BEEF GRANULES TOGETHER. (I DO THIS IN A ZIPLOCK). MIX ALL DRIED INGREDIENTS INTO SOUR CREAM. AFTER ALL IS MIXED ADD THE REMAINING 2 TBSP. MINCED ONION AND STIR.
