About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Put Decency and Morals back in America

September 28, 2012

As we travel up and down our road of life we seem to be losing our way.  We need to bring back the good morals and decency we once had.

This road stops here but does not end here. We are on this earth as we know it for a short time but seem to be acting like we will never get to this point. We need to do things right while we are here.
We could straighten up our country if we would straighten up ourselves. If we put our energy to do more with our own families, taking care of the things that need to be done would put things on the right track.  Many have become lazy and sloppy, they have become rude and immoral and if our generations before us could see us now they would be shocked.

Some people have gone to the other extreme and have become so over involved in activities they have no time to be home, no time to cook homemade meals, children do not have enough down time and even when they do it is filled with electronics. It is my opinion that many children are so over hyped that it is almost impossible for them to be still and settle their minds. They do not have time to develop their imaginations or have time to read or even notice the beauty in quiet. Parents that introduce nature and show their children why it is important that we take care of what God made are on the right track.

I am not saying extra activities are bad; children do need to do things that help them to exercise or learn an art or be a part of a group.   I am discussing the Mom’s and Dad’s that have over booked most everything and have their children in so many activities that there is no time left in the day to cook food or take time to eat the food without rushing. These families end up eating fast food and processed food almost every day which will most likely lead to health problems.

Many parents are so overbooked that that are constantly telling their children to hurry up or ask them what is taking you so long? You should not rush a child, they need time to sleep, to eat slowly, time to go to the bathroom in the time that it takes their body. Many children do not get enough fruit, vegetables and plain water in their diets.  There must be some kind of balance.  If you and/or your children do not have time to do these things then something needs to be adjusted.

Our first priority should be health and that means proper food, proper sleep and balance. A child needs to go to bed early, an adult needs that too. No child should be up all hours of the evening and morning on their electronics.  If a child has electronics then all of these electronics should be turned in to their parents at the end of the day. You must teach them they do not need these things all hours of the day and if you do not do this you are enabling them to become addicted.  Children should have chores so they learn how to be responsible, homework time should be a quiet time with televisions and such turned off. Pets need attention and proper care too.

When is the last time you played a board game or had a homemade meal with everyone sitting at the table?  When you have this kind of balance then is the time you decide which other activities should be considered.

We must respect each other and each others faiths and we must allow each person to vote as they choose without being threatened.  We have gone from freedom to people being bullied or ridiculed for their choices. People seem to have so much anger and hate now that I worry because it seems to be escalating out of control. We cannot make people do as we believe they should do and it is not our right or business. If we focus on our own self and our own family we would have a better chance to make change and that is by example.

My faith is Christian and I respect other religions. People are not the same, you have no choice where you are born and to whom you are born, our faith is a result of these factors. God has his own plan and it is not up to us to interfere, we have enough to fix in ourselves.  The tsunami in Japan should have taught all of us a lesson and that lesson came after the tsunami when people that lost everything brought found money and items that did not belong to them to the proper places. In our country do you really think this would have happened?  At this time we have strayed too far.

We should dress proper and discipline our children in a proper way but first one must control ones self to set the example.  I am shocked most times I go to a grocery store by what I see in the way people have become so indecent.  I have seen people wearing their pajamas in the grocery store or skimpy clothing so improper that I blush and have to look away.  I feel violated when I see another woman or a man with their underwear showing or a woman dressed to where her cellulite or fat or whatever other body part is bulging out of control.  Our Children are being raised to see such things that they are numb to most things that would have caused a possible arrest in the past. A way to make change is to make sure we are decently dressed and and if enough of us would do this then those that are not would feel out of place and possibly make change.

Our airlines have strayed far from how they were when people were respectful of each other.  Now people blame security reasons but there is no reason for rudeness and bad manners on either part. Things have happened to cause changes in security, we cannot undo what has been done but we can control ourselves better because it is a patience thing. It comes down to how we react and how we handle matters and it should be done politely by everyone. If the other person is rude then don't let it stick and go on.

There is a lot of beauty in our Country

The wildlife is still here for now but we need to do better with not polluting.

Our children have many wonderful opportunities in education if we do things the right way and put them on the right paths. If you are going in the wrong direction then change that direction and make it right. Every day our life if full of choices from what color socks to wear or to save that dollar instead of spending it on something that will be gone in a flash.

I was watching this duck search for food and it was so peaceful at the waters edge that I was mesmerized by the beauty. Everyone should take part in keeping our earth clean and stop polluting so that these creatures can have what was intended for them.

Knowledge is empowering ones self and we are never too old to learn

Every day our life is a gift and there is beauty all around us. We should all slow down and notice those things that we are missing. We can can make changes by making change in ourselves.
If everyone would focus on bringing back manners, decency and balance other things would most likely fall into place.

All of the pictures I post on my website belong to me.  The vintage pictures are of my family and these lovely pictures on this page were taken on a trip I made to upstate New York, it is a wonderful place to visit.
